A Week of Awards for Start IN Up Program Entrepreneurs

The conclusion of the fifth and the launch of the sixth edition of the Start IN Up Program have converged in a cascade of awards and achievements for several entrepreneurs who are or have been part of Madrid in Game’s entrepreneurship program. UFO Lab, Algon Games, and Golden Gamers have received various prizes that highlight the outstanding work these companies are doing in the fields of video games, eSports, and gamification.

UFO Lab received an honorable mention at the Madrid Impacta Awards, organized by the Madrid City Council, for the best company based in one of the city’s entrepreneurship or innovation centers. The company, which completed its stay in the Start IN Up Program during its fifth edition, develops a creative video game solution that allows players to design their own customized playable experiences. UFO Lab has now joined the Start IN Up Community, through which it will continue collaborating with Madrid in Game.

Algon Games, one of the first companies to join the Start IN Up Community program in its fifth call, has also been awarded the Best Young Company prize at the 11th edition of the Ventana Madrid Awards. The company uses video games as a foundation to create and adapt stories —both fiction and non-fiction based on gaming licenses— and to design marketing tools and techniques that promote audiovisual projects among new generations.

Golden Gamers, meanwhile, has received the Best Business Idea Award at the 21st Entrepreneurs Awards. The initiative, which joined the Start IN Up Program in the previous edition, brings video games closer to older adults, breaking down barriers and connecting them to the industry in a meaningful and inclusive way. It will be one of the 59 companies participating in the sixth edition of the entrepreneurship program, which began on November 5 at the Campus del Videojuego.
