Madrid Open: the new championships running alongside the ESM prove a success at Madrid in Game

Madrid in Game has successfully held a new series of championships open to the public, running in parallel with the Esports Series Madrid: the Madrid in Game OPEN tournaments. These championships will expand competitive play to new games in future editions, with EA Sports FC 26 becoming the first title to inaugurate the OPEN format. Electronic Arts’ football simulator debuted with two online qualifiers followed by a grand on-site final at the Video Game Campus.

The tournament brought together more than 400 players during its online phase, with eight of Spain’s top players qualifying for the grand final, held on November 30 at the Video Game Campus. DUX, one of the most prominent teams on the national scene, claimed the championship title, showcasing outstanding skill and control throughout the competition.

The Madrid in Game OPEN tournaments were created to provide a high-level, open competitive platform, fostering the growth of the city’s esports ecosystem and strengthening Madrid’s position as a benchmark for players and local gaming communities. New OPEN championships will be held both on-site at the Video Game Campus and online throughout 2026.
