Madrid in Game closes the year with new awards from AreaJugones and the FIP Awards

Madrid in Game closes the year with two new awards for its trophy case: the Honor Award from the video game media AreaJugones and the Best Municipal or Government Action Event Award from the 2025 FIP Awards, which reaffirms its success after victories in 2023 and 2024. During the Areajugones Awards gala, some of the best video games, TV series, and publishers were recognized, making it one of the most relevant events in the video game sector. Other nominees for the Honor Award, given to Madrid in Game, included Meridiem Games, AEVI, and the Málaga Comic-Con. Founded in 2009, AreaJugones has become one of Spain's leading sources of entertainment and gaming news. Since 2017, it has expanded its audience through a partnership with Sport, a leading sports daily, which has helped it reach new audiences.

Meanwhile, the FIP Awards (International Forum of Projects) annually recognize public and private initiatives that stand out for their impact, innovation, and transformative ability in areas such as culture, creativity, technology, entertainment, and institutional action. In its 2025 edition, the awards honored national projects and entities that share a common vision: to drive economic, social, and cultural development through innovative ideas, public-private collaboration, and a clear commitment to talent and the creative industry, positioning Madrid in Game among the most important initiatives in the gaming ecosystem.

Since its inception, the Madrid City Council initiative has received numerous awards that validate its impact on the video game industry, innovation, and talent development. Notable awards include Best Municipal Event or Government Action at the FIP Awards in 2023 and 2024, Best Idea Developed in Culture, Leisure, and Recreation at the FIP Awards in 2023, the eSports Ecosystem and Technological Entrepreneurship Award granted by Nebrija University, the Best Initiative for Local Video Game Industry Development awarded by AlfaBetaJuega in 2024, and the Business Insider Better Capitalism Award at the HobbyPremios in 2022.
