Madrid in Game HackJams breaks records with 134 participants in an intense development marathon
The first Madrid in Game HackJams of 2025 brought together 134 participants at the 42 Madrid Fundación Telefónica programming campus, in a record-breaking 48-hour video game creation marathon. During the event, two game jams were held in parallel, with developers working against the clock to bring 29 games to life, all of which are now available to play for free. This edition’s themes revolved around space exploration and carnival, challenging participants to innovate through their mechanics and narratives.
The teams also received support from expert industry mentors such as Salvador “Deewa” Marín and Laura Climent Aumente, who guided the jammers throughout their creative process. The event was opened by Ángel Niño, Councillor Delegate for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Madrid City Council, who highlighted Madrid’s importance as a talent hub for the video game industry.
The jury, made up of industry professionals, awarded Elemental Odyssey and Carnival Swap as the best games of this edition, during a weekend in which developers unleashed their creative potential to create a video game in less than 48 hours.
