About the Project /
Madrid in Game is the result of an initiative launched by the City Council of Madrid to boost the city’s innovative strength, the creative potential of its citizens and professionals and the most outstanding and visionary talent in such an important industry as that of video games, with a single goal:
TO TAKE THE CITY TO ANOTHER LEVEL ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE.
It is time to show the world that the economy of the new generation, the video game industry and gaming now have their capital:
MADRID.
Madrid in Game is a transformative action full of initiatives that place the focus on one of the most powerful drivers of the future, fully conscious of the fact that to boost our innovation, technology and industrial vision only one thing is necessary:
The City Council of Madrid boost the video games industry by two strategic pillars: the Video Game Cluster of Madrid, which connects the whole ecosystem to the large companies and training centres in the sector, and Madrid in Game.
The Madrid in Game Video Game Campus is a physical and virtual space that offers different initiatives, including a study incubator and accelerator for developers.
All of the Video Game Campus’ activity is focused on the promotion and development of new ideas in the field of gaming and video games, through interaction between the sector’s professionals, local talent and the industrial fabric, centralised within the Cluster’s companies, but also open to other initiatives.
The Video Game Campus is located in Casa de Campo and has 3 buildings.
② Madrid Esports center
“The high-performance Esports centre of Madrid”
An important point of contact for Esports in the city.
Designed as a large training area for eSports teams, it will be home to the municipal Esports league. The objective of this building will be to promote national and international competitions and to develop different types of tournaments and events to bring Esports to the city of Madrid and to its citizens.
③ Madrid Experience Center
“An experiential video game centre with a lot to teach”
Madrid in Game Experience is an innovative and public space where people can learn about gaming in its different forms and from different perspectives. This space will offer people the opportunity to learn and experiment through video games and will organise different exhibitions, workshops, conferences and events.
Madrid in Game Experience will be home to the Video Game Museum, an interactive space with immersive experiences based on gaming as a driver for innovation.
Madrid in Game 2022 will offer cross-cutting programmes and experiences so that both professionals within the industry, as well as other individuals interested in the sector, can explore, cultivate and develop their talent.
All the actions will be aimed at promoting the video game and gaming industry as a driver for economic, cultural and social transformation.
The autumn 2022 schedule of events, which starts on 21 October, will conclude with the opening ceremony for the Video Game Campus.
In October and November 2022 a marathon of professional hackathons will be held, bringing together both upcoming and active talent from local companies to develop and give visibility to relevant projects that will have an impact in different fields in which the video game development and programming industries have a transformative role.
These sessions will take a sensitive approach towards sustainability, inclusion and social development, while seeking to decontextualise the world of gaming towards other less-habitual fields, such as fashion and health.
This format places the industry’s tools and assets at the service of the community and the concerns of citizens, resulting in proposals of great social significance, supported by pioneering and leading companies.
This important meeting between the sector’s professionals and industry will take place on1 and 2 December 2022 at the Madrid premises of In Game/the Video Game Campus. The three buildings will host an event aimed at promoting, boosting and disseminating objectives such as:
– Promoting gaming beyond a means of entertainment, using it as a tool for social and cultural transformation.
– Disseminating the industry through technical and informative talks.
– Generating a window of opportunity for investment in the industrial fabric.
– Converting Madrid into a point of academic contact between researchers in the design and development of video game technology.
